Jam-Che

Gentle Touch for the Dying

I developed Jam-Che as a form of gentle touch for the dying.

Touch is one of the most powerful forms of communication we have – supporting, comforting, and connecting enabling us to be present with loving kindness and compassion.

At times of feeling unwell massage can seem too tiring and invasive and carers, feeling helpless, want to be able to offer something but may not trained in massage.

Developed from traditional Tibetan massage techniques Jam-Che, which uses smooth, slow, even and rhythmical strokes provides comforting touch and relaxation.  It can be given by those not trained in massage.

I am grateful to Dr Dawa, Director of the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute of His Holiness The Dalai Lama, for his assistance.

Workshops in Jam-Che are run for complementary health practitioners, health & social care workers, carers and families.

The following are a few comments about Jam-Che from a workshop I ran in Italy for doctors, nurses physical therapists and other health care professionals.

"I'm used to using the deeper strokes of massage and was amazed how powerful something as gentle as this can be"

"It is so very gentle and calming"

"It's so relaxing - both for the person receving and the person giving"
